Crossing the Merritt Canal by Artist Troy Richard Thomas
Crossing to the island on the Wapsipinicon River. My Aunts husband Ed took a shovel to a low wash on a peninsula and created an island on the Wapsi at the farm. Eventually the river took over and widened his digging. I spent a lot of time on the island, one time we saw tracks that looked like a mountain lions paw prints. Not that far fetched, since a lion was recently killed 15 miles from my home in Amana.
