My Grandparents lived on the Wapsi River.  Every time we visited the farm we would go down to the river and play on the island that was created by my Aunts husband Ed. He shoveled out a little piece of the bank and the river took over and widened the channel. This is the first river I canoed and floated on. It was always a joy to be on the river.
