This was my pick up point, ten miles North of Grand Marais. The lake has the river plugged up into a lagoon. A small amount of water trickles out.

I sat out the day watching five foot wave action slamming into the rocks. Down in Duluth a Father and child tried to swim in the waves and ended up drowning.

There were piles of logs strewn all over the beach. I took this shot because of the egg shaped piece of wood that lay in the charred crotch of the tree.

I travel all the way from Iowa and the ocean is fenced off. I can't remember why this fence was here. It was our first stop at the ocean before we went into Olympic National Park.
